About us

We are a group of amateur artists who came together after having attended Evening Classes run by the local authority for a year, originally there were five members who got together to begin the Friday Painting Group  we now have a membership of fifteen and a waiting list has become a necessity.

The group is non-profit making and therefore use any extra funds for demonstrations by professional artists which take place about 5/6 times a year; we also have workshops as often as possible.

Our members are of mixed ability and use various techniques, ie Watercolour, Pastel, Pen & Wash,Oils etc. Our aim is to provide an interesting evening for our members by means of exchanging any information on the various techniques we use.

We treat our evening as a social gathering of like minds with a common interest. We are a friendly group offering constructive criticism of each others work whilst drinking our tea/coffee and our obligatory biscuit during the evening. A library of approximately 30 videos and books are available on a two-week loan basis free of charge.

Exhibitions of interest are noted and discussed such as Patchings etc. If any are thought to be of particular interest arrangements are made to attend.
